the best thing about this is the simulation which shows you how fat you will get over time if you eat too much and do too little. The rest of it is too awkward and imprecise to bother with for me. Not worth the money.

By Mrs. A. L. Jones (Wales, UK)
Not worth buying! The graphics are poor - text unreadable. It doesn't do what I thought it would. You can only enter food/exercise details for a basic 7 pattern. You can't enter daily details to keep a track of what you have eaten/exercised and see what sort of impact that will have on your future.

All you can do is enter what you typicaly do over a 7 day period and see how that effects you. Nice to look at once - but not something you'll keep going back to, other than that the only thing it does is weigh you.

This game is aimed at female users of wii fit who are maybe looking to use it as a weight loss resource. Compared to other video games, it is inferior in user quality and has poor graphics. Speech bubbles are very difficult to read. The information it gives about health and fitness is very basic. If you want to customise the game to meet your own weight loss or fitness requirements then look for an alternative.

 "Not worth buying" 2009-10-29
By Jane O'Neill (Ireland)
I purchased this game and only got round to trying it the other day. I hoped it would improve my basic Spanish. I have some Spanish I can order drinks and a few basic greetings. This game is not for beginners, which was why I purchased it in the beginning. I tried to play it, I have no idea what the words meant, they really are not for beginners and seem really random and not very useful for day-to-day conversation.

I am disappointed and reluctant to play again. Too many fiddly games, I just played the first and second one, the first one with the horrible spray gun to fill in the missing letter. Pointless! and it completely distracts you from learning the words as you are trying to use the silly spray gun to make the letter. The second one you have to guess the words, again completely weird words that are definitely not useful for beginners!

Will go back to using my non-interactive plain old book! Don't buy this unless you are pretty good at Spanish and have infinite patience!!!

Item was delivered as stated, however it is in a different (PAL) format than my Wii. Nintedo didn't do a good job stating there are different formats for different regions of the World. I can not play this game due to this fact. When looking at games, it should specifically state in LARGE letters the format and make it clear there is more than one region of Wiis and games.

Once the game started up, it was quick and easy to start learning and reinforcing the Spanish vocabulary. The games that get your mind thinking in Spanish rather than English are great. It tells you what level you are at with your Spanish, which gets updated regularly.

By Rachel Willmer
This claims to help you work on your Spanish vocabulary. Trouble is, the interface is so awful I couldn't bear to use it more than twice.

The first game you're given is a missing letter game. Now I would have thought that the obvious way for you to pick the letter would be to show the alphabet and let you use the Wii's controller to point at the right letter.

This game instead make you use the controller as a spray gun, and it will then guess what letter you meant.

So you spend all your time trying to get the letter recognition right and no time on the vocabulary.

Haven't got past the first game and I've given up with it now so can't review any of the other games.

Oh, and it doesn't use your Mii either.

Dreadful...

I bought this because I purchased the same game for the DS which I think is really good. I got the wii version so I could share with my family in hope this would be a fun way for us all to learn Spanish. This game is certainly not for beginners. Yes, I should have read the small print. You need more than beginners level spanish to play the game in my opinion.

How very very disappointing, frustrating is not the word for it, a complete waste of money. Steer well clear if you are a beginner, or even if you know some french.(there is nothing on it for you)(A level perhaps) This game just puts you right off learning. The games dont really help, just a load of difficult french words chucked at you as you play, frustrating and very off putting, with no help as to what they mean whilst you are playing. Why cant they have made it like the DS french coach level 1 which has sound along with so many other fun and very helpful qualities. Even the setting up for more than one player caused many a frustration and handsets being chucked at the telly.

I didn't like it at all. It didn't teach pronounciation, grammar or sentences. It just fed you a heap of French words and their definitions.

I understand the Nintendo DS version reads the French words aloud, why doesn't the Nintendo Wii version have this feature? This would have given some help with pronounciation.

This game should have also taught basics for beginners. I understand the game is probably only intended for people who can speak a bit of French but why? Why haven't beginners been included? It would have been a much better game.

I'm sure this game does improve your French but some basic additions could have made this a classic game rather that a mediocre one.

I had to give this one star because it wouldn't allow me to give any less.

I got this to play on the Wii and at best its frustrating - its sooo bad it was in the bin within 10 minutes.

The characters are not the most endearing....I'm not impressed by the way the characters keep banging on their desks when they talk to me or check their nails while giving me information - they have issues that they need to get over.

The Wii is a brilliant games console, but its impossible to use for this programme. You simply can't write letters onto the screen and what adds to the frustration is that the letter recognition system is too quick and doesn't give you time to finish forming the letters before it flashes up the incorrect letter. I don't know if this game is better on the DS.

You need to have a certain standard of french to begin using this programme and it doesn't cover grammar, verb endings, writing, comprehension, tenses, speech or reading comprehension. In fact, its just an extremly poor version of flash cards.

To top it all, the navigation is all over the place - a simple structured menu allowing me to see immediately where I can go would be better - and....why can't I use my own Wii Mii? I couldn't even link it up to my DS like the instructions said I could so I don't know what its like on the DS.

This game is ok for £9.99. I got it because i thought it would be fun, it is if you're 9/10 but not for adults.

There is many games. One is alphabet soup and you have to guess the word and drag the letters into the correct order onto the side of your soup bowl. This game i found difficult!.

Another game includes writing the missing letter out of a word onto a screen.

I became bored with this game within a week then again im a adult, and it's not really aimed at adults. So i'd recommended this game for school age kids :-)

By Ms. R. C. Preddy (Umeå, Sweden)
I bought this game about a week ago, and whilst it's not nearly as addictive as Big Brain Academy, it is good at what it's supposed to do. You have to want to increase your word knowledge (and vocabulary) to play it, essentially. Overall a fun game, the graphics are a little on the cheesy side, but that doesn't take away from the game too much. One feature I liked was that you get asked whether English is your native language. This was particularly useful for us, as my boyfriend is Swedish, so his word lists were easier than mine (lucky him!).

     "Improves Your Vocabulary!" 2008-07-07
    By Anonymous (UK)
My Word Coach is a fantastic game where you can develop your vocabulary.

When you first start you get a friendly male trainer who gives you a test to see which words you know and don't know.

After this test you will receive a rank.

For instance you might gain the rank of graduate from primary school or a lawyer for instance.

Do not worry if you are embarrassed by your rank, you can improve it by playing lots of varieties of different activities that you get.

    I will now explain this.

After you get your rank you can choose a trainer including the 1 you first see.

After choosing your trainer you get a few activities that if you practise with every day you can earn new activities and new icons like a progress chart.

Here are the 2 word training games that you start with.

Missing Letter: Fill in the missing letter by writing it with your Wii Remote.

Writing= Press and hold down the A Button or B Button and move the Wii Remote.

Letter Validation= after a slight delay, the letter you wrote on the screen will be confirmed.

Clear= If the letter is incorrect, swing the Wii Remote left and right quickly as if it was a board cleaner and you will clear the screen.

No Error= When you reach a higher difficulty level, some words will be spelled correctly.

If you think this is the case press the + Control Pad in any direction to confirm your decision.

Split Decision: The object of the game is to match the word at the top of the screen to its correct definition.

Tilt your Wii Remote left or right to see the different answers.

Viewing the Choices= Tilt the Wii Remote left or right to see the possible answers.

Confirm= Press the A Button to confirm the displayed answer.

Neither= When you reach a higher difficulty level, both answers may be incorrect.

If you think this is the case, press the B Button to confirm your decision.

When you a play a game a lot you will receive a harder difficulty level which makes the words even more challenging.

This sometimes makes 1 or 2 new controls in an activity.

Controlling "My Word Coach" Using a Nintendo DS: One of the unique features of "My Word Coach Develop your vocabulary" is that it allows you to use your Nintendo DS to play the single-player game of "Missing Letter" in wireless mode - all you need is a copy of the game for the Wii!

Here's how to connect your DS:

Start a Training Game of Missing Letter.

Move the cursor over the DS icon.

Press the A Button to confirm your choice.

Now you will be asked to turn ON your DS and touch DS Download Play.

Select the item with your Wii's name and wait until the download is complete.

Once complete, touch the Bottom screen to start and you will be able to write with your DS!

Use the Nintendo DS stylus to write letters on the Bottom screen in the same way you would with a paper and pencil, and watch as they appear on your television screen!

Note: You do not need a DS game card to play Missing Letter with your DS.

I think writing with your DS is easier than writing with the Wii Remote, as I find it harder because it sometimes shows up wrong when your trying to write a letter.

I and my sister got this as a gift to improve our vocabulary to use bigger words and improve our English.

    It worked.

Overall this is a fun way to improve your vocabulary and is fun for all of the family but don't be fooled the words can be tricky!

I would recommend buying this game.

Thank you for reading my review.

    10/10.

"Got this for the kids as an educational ploy - and they play it, albeit rarely" 2008-05-03
By Keith Joseph (West Berkshire, England)
My son (12) is a poor reader, whereas my daughter (13) reads about a book every two days. For twenty quid, I thought this must be worth a try as there are precious few decent fun & educational PC games suitable for your kids after they pass the age of 8 [and even fewer for the game consoles]. This game "is created in association with Dr Tom Cobb, Prof of Applied Linguistics - with words and definitions from the Cambridge Advanced Learners Dictionary [whatever that means]."

The word games are a bit like the brain training franchise. There's `missing letter' - the word has one letter missing and you simply freehand scribble the letter on the screen and you get a yes/no, and on to the next word - text recognition is good. In another you can 'match the word to the list of definitions'. Then there's 'word cereal' i.e. alphabet soup, where you drag out the letters and write a word on the edge of the plate. Plus there's `Block letters': a Tetris style stack up a word with dropping letters. And there's `Word Shuffle': match a word with definition using a different method to that previously [and some words don't have the correct definition shown]. And finally there's 'safecracker': spell the mystery word turning a dial to get them in the right order. As you progress through any game it gradually gets harder. There's also 'recreational games' that unlock as you progress through your word training. Plus you get a review of your progression [score up to 100] and booklet help on inputting letters freehand with the Wii remote.

All the games are also playable as multi-player (3 games are 2 player and the other 3 are 2 to 4 players). The games are actually fairly fun, and more importantly our kids do play them occasionally [particularly my daughter, and she certainly doesn't storm through it]. So for the first few weeks, this games been a success. We only have a handful of Wii games which helps. So I would recommend the `My Word Coach' for secondary school kids to adults [despite the 3+ rating the words are rather hard for under 10s, and even teenagers might struggle] - and naturally don't expect boys to choose it regularly over Mario Galaxy. Being younger, My dyslexic son naturally has the most trouble with the words, and he needs help all the time. The game looks good as well, and so far we haven't noticed words repeating - although often kids like to get the odd word they already know the answer to, as 'winning' is everything to them. See mywordcoach.com for further details.

Please do not buy this game. It is the worst creation I have ever encountered and I am surprised that Deep Silver are actually

getting away with it. If you just stand still in front of your TV the Avatar will move, aided by Jillian telling you every five

seconds that she could not have done it better herself and then adding that, well she could have done it a bit better as she is

a celebrity trainer after all......!!!

And please do not buy it in a supermarket as they will not let you return your purchase unless you exchange it for the same rubbish.

Apparently they do believe that you have opened and copied the game and therefore cannot take it back.

To survive hectic pace of the Rat Race at my job without going insane I need hobbies that help me regain my inner balance and calm. I go to the gym twice a week but I need something on the side for when I'm at home, so.... I now like to get my Wii and practice this virtual Yoga game, it has a wealth of information about the sport and it never gives you any stress, just offers a temple-like area to explore and two personal trainers who explain how to do various Yoga positions, overall it's interesting and relaxing. It's not totally fantastic mind you, four out of five max, the graphics could be much better and it doesn't offer some of the features that other games have like multiplayer or a statistic of how many calories you burnt today, but I find it refreshing and so I definitely recommend giving this one a try.

 "Good for learning Yoga" 2009-12-10
By WhiteWolf (London, UK)
Wii Fit for the Nintendo Wii was a huge success and so there are many new fitness games, a trend I really like since I enjoy working out and staying fit. There are plenty of fast-paced, even frenetic games around so I started to deliberately look for something with a more relaxed and leisurely pace and I found this little gem that doesn't seem to get a lot of publicity, it has temples to walk around in and trainers who explain the ancient meditative art of Yoga, it uses the Wii controller and the Wii Balance if you have one, but not to track how fast you're moving you're arms but to check how still you're holding them and if you're breathing calmly enough, and I find this a very welcome change of pace from the usual hectic pacing that games for kids have.

Overall this game contains a lot of useful informations and exercises which can help us all to improve our lives .

I would give it a 4 out of 5 stars, it's for sure something everybody has to try!

"Nice Wii game for Yoga beginners" 2009-12-09
By Selene
The range of Asanas included in this game pretty much covers all the basic Yoga positions that beginners typically learn, it's a good range of mostly simple and easy exercises with the focus more on relaxation and self-centering than on strength or flexibility. There are two separate Yoga trainers, a male Guru who mostly explains the technical aspects of the poses, and a female trainer/model who offers more personal advice. The game has pretty much everything I expected and not too many surprises, you can customize the training plan a bit and read about Yoga positions and their history a lot, but there's not much else to do besides study. Overall, the graphics could be better I suppose but Yoga Wii offers solid background information and is an innovative concept so I'd recommend it for those who are curious about learning yoga in a more interactive way.

"Good Wii game and Yoga training exercise" 2009-12-09
By Alfred Bell (Liverpool, UK)
This game proves that the Wii isn't just for kids as most kids wont like it, as it is somewhat slow paced and its about holding a certain Yoga posture for a while and keep still which is said to have health benefits but it will not keep young children entertained for long. I found this game to be quite relaxing and like it, I can now do three of the positions without wobbling too much, but the kids hate it saying the graphics aren't good and its too slow and they get bored and want to play something else but I like to take my time and read everything carefully and the hints from the guru and the trainer, so far its really good.

     "Enjoyable, but hard work" 2009-10-28
    By Lesley (Newcastle upon Tyne)
I can agree with some of the reviews, because, at first it seemed that it wasn't picking up what I was doing (using the balance board or remote), and kept asking if I had stopped, but now I seem to be getting the hang of it. It does seem that you have to be in a particular position for it to stay in the green light, when it counts how many repetitions you have done correctly (if not, it will change to orange then red - and that's when it will ask if you have stopped.) Also, timing is an issue. I am still having problems with squats - but this is improving - as I was originally getting, for example, 7/32, - yesterday I got 26/32 (still a fail) - so I am getting better - slowly. At first, it will ask you to pick your main goal - I picked weight loss - and then a secondary goal - I picked looking good. It will also ask you which foods you like to eat, and will then work out menus - I don't use it for the menus, but it is useful, if you want to do that. Then you are asked to pick 1 of the 4 trainers; 2 men & 2 women. They tell you a bit about themselves - and you don't get a cartoon graphic, once you have picked 1 of them - it's a real person, and then you choose 1 of the 4 backgrounds. It will then work out a plan for you - including a daily workout and menu plan. I try to do a daily workout every day or so - these are only lasting 15 minutes at the moment. Sometimes I will also do an express workout (quick, morning, lunchtime or evening) - which are slightly different to the daily workouts - less repetitions, and then a challenge. You can check your progress, and I am onto week 6 at the moment. This will track your main goal, along with your secondary goal, to see how you are doing. There is also a section for bronze, silver & gold medals. I seem to be sticking to silver medals, at the moment, with the daily workouts - I have about 28, with 2 for gold and 2 for bronze. In these daily workouts, it will give you either 6 or 8 sessions (about 15mins in total), and you are marked as bronze, silver or gold medals at the end of each session - then it works out which medal you have reached overall - it's the same with the express workouts. Maybe when I have improved, these workouts will last longer than 15 mins. Another section is for 3 levels; Sapphire, Ruby & Diamond. I still haven't reached the Sapphire level. I am nearly there - I think - it's these squats that are letting me down. Maybe once I get a few gold medals, it will change. If anyone can give me any help on how to get these squats right, it would be very much appreciated! There is also a section for challenges; dance, cardio test, army, boxing & football; there can be about 3 or 6 sessions in these, but you have to do more repetitions than in the daily workouts. I am still failing these, because of the squats again, but I am improving slowly, as I seem to be getting around 80% now. You obviously have to get around 90% to pass these challenges. Yes, the actions from the trainers are quite funny - holding their heads in their hands when you haven't succeeded with one of the sessions - or gesticulating with their arms above their heads, when you have succeeded. I am 42 and overweight, and have already completed 60 workouts; this includes the challenges; so I think I am improving very slowly, but I find this a fun way to get fit, as I hate gyms.

    Update - 30/10/09

I clicked onto my daily workout in my plan yesterday - and the exercises have now changed, they are harder - and there are now 10 of them! One of them was a cat crawl. You lie with your feet out behind you - hands on either side of the balance board, arch your back and then swoop down over the balance board - you need strong arms for this! The trainer shook his head, and said "terrible" after 12 repetitions - I think I managed 2. So you don't stick to the same workouts - I must have improved somewhere - if it's put me onto harder exercises. Press-ups (not on knees) - yes, they are hard work, but if it gives me strength in my arms, I am going to keep doing them. Oh - and there were no squats this time. All I got from the trainer at the end of the workout was "That was ok" in a bored voice!

"Great re-introduction to fitness (especially for post-pregnancies!)" 2009-10-22
    By C. de Wale
Having given birth a few months ago I have found it very difficult to find time to get to the gym, or take time out to concentrate on any form of exercise that takes my focus away from my baby for more than a few minutes.

That said, I have been able to use the Wii board and the New U game in the comfort of my own front room, where I can keep one eye on baby whilst getting some much needed exercise. I find the work-outs on New U stimulating, encouraging, varied and entertaining. The additional recipes section is also really clever and makes mealtimes a lot easier to plan for.

This is a definite must for anyone in the same situation as I am, I highly recommend you give it a try!

"Good game but quite slow." 2009-10-19
    By Tara Walsh (Ireland)
I've been using other wii fitness games and this one is quite slow to start off. I've kinda given up on it as I was used to a more cardio workout with other games. The workouts are quite short too. It maybe that I need to progress onwards to obtaining cardio and longer workouts though.

 "Bit of a disappointment" 2009-12-01
By J. Byrne (Ireland)
I own a number of the other Wii fitness range dvd's including the EA Active game of which I am a fan. I find this one quite disappointing. I was hoping to add to the EA active by gaining a focussed cardio workout element. However this game feels quite unfocussed in the structure and navigation menus. Also there is a lot of "talking" telling you whats going to happen next & that you have selected to workout ..surely thats obvious. So you waste a lot of time flicking between the silent "chat". It's disappointing to that you cant migrate your existing profiles from other Wii games. I am not sure if I will get much use from this to be honest ...the ability to purchase new outfits depending on performance isnt much of an incentive either

"Excellent - if you like boxing, you will love this" 2009-11-08
By Apache (Lancashire)
I'd got the Wii Fit a couple of months ago, and found it didn't really push me, I liked the rhythm boxing on it so looked for a boxing based program.

Like others I ached after the first use, but used it it daily and lost 2lb in my first week.

Its good fun, I usually let the trainer put together a workout for me, then go to the exercise section afterwards.

The use of dual remotes instead of the nun chuck is a brilliant idea.

Definately recommend this - if you like boxing!

 "Absolutely brilliant!" 2009-10-29
By Lesley (Newcastle upon Tyne)
I love this! I was disappointed when I bought the Get in Shape version - as it didn't incorporate the balance board & remotes. I have enough workout DVDs that do the same thing - if not better - so I got bored with it. The Cardio Workout is brilliant. It has different sections from beginner to advanced, so you can work your way up. I usually ask one of the trainers to prepare a workout for me, and I usually get a 7 or 8 minute warm up, then a 15 min workout - these will give you combinations of punches; jabs, uppercuts etc, and then you may get a 3 min roadwork - which is running, and then punching bears - funny! - mitt work or jump rope etc - it also asks if you want to have light, regular or hardcore - so you tell it how hard you want to work. The best way is to have 2 remotes - rather than a remote or nunchuck, as the wire gets in the way. It is based around boxing, so if you don't like boxing, don't buy this game. It certainly gets your arms aching afer the end of each session. You don't have to do the workout prepared for you by the trainer. They ask if you want a la carte - so you can make up your own workout. At the end of your session, it will take you to a calendar, and then you have to punch, and it will either say good or great, depending on how hard your workout has been for that day. There is also a section called exercise, this is where the balance board comes in. You can use either the balance board or remotes for this section; which is the roadwork, mitt work, jump rope etc. One review mentioned a strange terminator type machine - it looks more like the bad machine in Robocop to me. There are also exams to go for - I have passed the master exam, so I am pretty chuffed about that. You collect gold after every workout that you have done, and then you can buy clothes from the shop, so that you change the clothes on your character. You can also change your trainer's clothes. This might not be for everyone, but I like changing the clothes. You just have 3 different backgrounds to choose from, but there are plenty of music choices, which are ok, and there is obviously Eye of the Tiger! I can't see anything wrong with the cartoon graphics - they look good to me - I love how my character looks - I am overweight, but it doesn't give me a pot belly, like my wii fit character does! I would certainly recommend it.

 "Makes me sweat" 2009-10-14
By Mr. Z. Krkic
I was quite a diligent athlete back in high school - a wrestler. We had some hard cardio workouts back then. It has been some time since I last exercised, but this boxing workout was quite intense. You can do different levels. I guarantee you will break into sweat in less than 5 min. The different boxing menthods can be a bit complicated at the beginning, but then you get used to them.

I use it and would recommend it to those seeking short but energetic exercise.

 "Great for toning!" 2009-09-18
By kat4s (Scotland, uk)
This was exactly what I was looking for to compliment my wii fitness regime! I had read about Gold's Gym and was really keen to try it, and disappointed when I first heard it was not available here. So delighted when it came out under this cover. I have read the other reviews, and am slightly baffled at the people who rate it really low for poor graphics etc. If you were getting this type of game for the graphics then I would be surprised, and frankly I can't see a problem with them. There are loads of different lengths and difficulties of warm ups and shape boxing programmes, each of which tells you how many calories you can expect to burn before you go in, so you can really tailor your workout for what you are hoping to achieve. The 'exercise' things (skipping, sawing logs etc) are less of a draw for me, as I am happy losing myself in the boxing, although there is one that has you ducking and dodging punches from a strange terminator type machine (!?), which if you do it everyday as part of your routine will bring great results for the old waistline. If you do an 8 min warm up and then 16-20 workout I would challenge you not to feel as if you have had a good workout and be sweating. A real plus is that you have to keep your legs moving so it is for the whole body, not just the arms. Beware the first time you use it as my arms and legs ached the next day!

I suspect that like all other exercise games for the wii you would eventually get tired of this if it was all you did. Personally I combine a 20-25 min work out on EA active, 30 mins on this, and 10 mins yoga on wii fit to get a really good all round work out, that IS bringing results (visible shape change within a week :-)
